Title: Saw: The Final Chapter
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Kevin Greutert
Starring: Costas Mandylor, Tobin Bell
Runtime: 1 hour 30 minutesWhat It Is? Jigsaw’s (Bell) legacy continues as Hoffman (Mandylor) fights to maintain his lead role as Jigsaw’s protege and main man. However, Jill Tuck (Betsy Russell) is now searching for safety, since Hoffman got out of his “test”. In the meantime, Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flanery), a Jigsaw sufferer looks to help other survivors by promoting his book. However, things may start to be a bit more complicated for him, since he has 60 minutes to get through Jigsaw’s final elaborate set of traps.

What We Think? The dust has now settled, and the final installment of the Saw franchise has finally been released to DVD. Director Kevin Greutert was pulled back into the franchise by Lionsgate after he expressed interest in Oren Peli’s Paranormal Activity sequel. Maybe it would’ve been a good idea for them to go with someone else. Greutert delivered possibly the best Saw film since the first when Saw VI was released. So here we are with the absolute final film…was it worth the watch? No. So many things went wrong with this installment. The direction seemed very lackluster, for one. The script seemed as though it went in every direction, and not in a good way! Tobin Bell’s presence was very limited, when it was Bell, who made the film work in the first place! The traps were elaborate and definitely some of the craziest yet. But the storyline left so much to the imagination, especially when it was said that everything would be explained! In the last film, everything was to “Come Full Circle”. And even in this one, not everything was explained, just like the last one. I am still convinced that Costas Mandylor just can’t act, he would overexaggerate his own death, I am convinced. The return of Cary Elwes was something I was looking forward to and he barely made an appearance. The addition of Sean Patrick Flanery (Boondock Saints) was just a huge mistake, in my opinion. His last relevant movie WAS the Boondock Saints, which is now considered a cult film.

Our Score: D-, Possibly one of the worst of the entire series, Saw 3D lacks a good script and acting. The storyline getting out of control focusing mainly on the elaborate traps and not enough on the storyline.
