Title: The Social Network
MPAA Rating: PG-13
Director: David Fincher
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield
Runtime: 2 hoursWhat is this? It’s 2003 at Harvard University and Mark Zuckerberg (Eisenberg) has just created something called FaceMash, which is a site that lets you compare the hotness of two undergrads. He did this by hacking into Harvard’s facebook. After 6 months of academic probation, Zuckerberg is back, and he’s back with a bigger and better idea, after talking to Cameron & Tyler Winklevoss (Arnie Hammer) about their idea for the “Harvard Connection”. A site that would let Harvard students create their own pages. After word gets to Cameron & Tyler that Mark & his best friend, Eduardo Saverin (Garfield) have created “The Facebook”, the two look to sue him for stealing their idea. And in the process, Mark & Eduardo conflict, after bringing in Napster founder, Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake).

What We Think? One of 2010’s biggest films has just recently been released to DVD. Directed by David Fincher and written by A Few Good Men playwright, Aaron Sorkin. The film takes us on a journey from a college dorm to a Facebook headquarters, and all along the way, documenting the crazy twists and turns. While it has been said by Zuckerberg and Saverin themselves that this is just a film, not all of it has happened, Fincher was definitely able to bring some buzz and some craziness in Sorkin’s script. The film is based off of Ben Mezrich’s, The Accidental Billionaires. The one thing in this film, that shines is the dialogue. Eisenberg, especially, is able to bring out the fast paced dialogue and perfect it. His tone very similar to a few of his previous films, Adventureland and Zombieland, to name a few. The style in which it was shot was done so very well, and was very easy to follow, going back and forth between meetings with lawyers from both sides of every story. With Fincher’s track record as a director, we all know how wonderfully he can turn a film into gold. And with this one, he does just that.

Our Score: A+, One of the biggest movies of the year. Filled with great performances on all parts, amazing directing and is able to hold your attention, due to it’s fast paced, clever and humorous dialogue. Definitely worth checking out!
